Long ago (and far away) es un clásico standard escrito por Jerome Kern (música) y Ira Gershwin (letra) para el musical "Las modelos" (Cover girl, 1944), que dirigió Charles Vidor y protagonizaron Rita Hayworth y Gene Kelly. La canción fue nominada al Oscar y se hizo muy popular en diferentes versiones. Una de las más exitosas (alcanzó el nº 6 en las listas de Billboard) fue la que ese mismo año grabó Jo Stafford, maravillosa cantante californiana a quien hoy recordamos en el undécimo aniversario de su fallecimiento.
